Deep Tissue Massage

A Deep Tissue Massage at the Titus Medical Spa will leave you relaxed and rejuvenated. Deep Tissue Massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue and realigns them. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Our Deep Tissue Massage uses many of the same techniques as our Swedish Massage, but with more intense pressure. It’s the perfect massage therapy for alleviating chronic muscle tension or knots. This massage therapy will relax you and give you a renewed sense of well being.

Swedish Massage

A Titus Medical Spa Swedish Massage is the perfect stress reliever for both your body and spirit. A Swedish Massage uses a variety of techniques designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones and stretches the ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple and pliable. It also increases the oxygen flow in the blood and releases toxins from the muscles, while stimulating the skin and nervous system. Massage techniques include long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration, effleurage, and shaking motions. Our Swedish Massage is relaxing and invigorating, all at the same time.

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu Massage uses the body's innate ability to return to "center' or homeostatis. This treatment uses the ancient Chinese meridian system, which accesses and corrects imbalances, while imparting a deep relaxation response. You will also feel a refreshing energy surge after your treatment. Our Shiatsu therapist will use methods such as pressing with parts of her hands, fingertips and palms. A more vigorius technique called "Amma" may also be used, which includes shaking and extreme stretches for a true "opening" of meridians.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage (or Lymph Drainage Massage), is a delicate form of massage that stimulates the body’s lymphatic system and helps to re-circulate fluids, stimulates the immune system, improves metabolism, and helps to eliminate waste and toxins from your body. This deeply relaxing massage uses rhythmic motions to access the "river" of the lymphatic system. Lymph drainage massage is a massage therapy that is helpful for people with edemas, and also reduces cellulite.

Reflexology Massage

Reflexology is a well-respected Chinese massage art, which involves massage of the hands, ears and feet to open the pathways or "energy" channels of the body. This form of massage is based on the ancient Chinese meridian system, and can correct imbalances, and evoke a deep relaxation response, as well as providing a refreshing energy surge. When a specific part of these extremities are massages, it theoretically has an effect on different body parts and internal organs elsewhere on the body. For example, if you press spot “X” on the sole of the foot, healing will take place in internal organ “Y”.

CranioSacral Massage

CranioSacral massage is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the CranioSacral system and involves the bones of the head, spinal column, sacrum and the underlying structures. The CranioSacral system is a rhythm that can be felt throughout the body and is seen as the life force, or the "Breath of Life”. Our massage therapist uses a very light, soft touch to monitor this rhythm and pinpoint sources of obstruction and stress in the body – then uses gentle motions to "nudge" the flow of the fluid in the soft tissues, which bathe the brain and spinal cord. CranioSacral massage has proved effective in treating stress related dysfunctions, headaches, chronic neck and back strain, fatigue, and various sensory disorders, as well as other traumas stored in the body. CranioSacral massage therapy provides a profound sense of relaxation, and is the gentlest of all of our massage treatments.

CranioSacral for Children and Infants

CranioSacral massage therapy can be used to treat childhood conditions such as poor sleep, restlessness, colic and ear infections. It is a gentle and non-invasive therapy and can be used to treat babies, even while they are asleep. This type of massage employs a very light touch and is well suited for children and infants. (See above description for more information on CranioSacral Therapy.)

Note on CranioSacral Massage: There are some medical conditions that are contraindicated for crainiosacral therapy. These include conditions such as acute aneurysm, cerebral hemorrhage or other pre-existing severe bleeding disorders. These conditions could be affected by variations of the intracranial pressure, causing instability. It is advisable to consult your medical practitioner before embarking on a course of CranioSacral therapy.
